Get out there and vote!

If you are a resident of the USA – get out there and vote! Then, go to allvoices and let us know how it went. We have several people reporting through out the day on the reactions, lines, and other things at polling places around the nation. We already have reports up from New Hampshire and Illinois. Add your voice!

We want to know what your voting experience is like today. We want to know about the lines. We want to know if the rules are being followed (hopefully they are). We want to know how the turnout is.

We want to know everything!

Be sure to leave a link in the comments here – I will do my best to get extra eyes on all of your reports!

An update:

Over 25 articles to choose from!

I can tell we are getting closer to the election every day. There are over 25 choices for today’s Voice of the Day selection. The stories range from national to local and from fact to opinion pieces. There are some radical opinions in today’s stuff, so read it all.

I am not going to create a poll with this many choices in it. I am going to ask you to vote with your clicks. Check out the articles by searching the site for “elections” and voice up the ones you like. If we haven’t got a clear choice by noon tomorrow, I will take the top 5 and create a poll with them.

My opinion…

I don’t want to be the one who picks the Voice of the Day everyday. That said, there are some pieces today that I think are very well thought out and deserve your eyes. Many of these are from community members who showed up over the weekend, some of them are from people who have been with the site since the begining.

  • Community member Kuldeep has several pieces in the running today. Most of them don’t have much text, but they have great videos and images. Check them out from his profile.
  • Community member maxwells_deamon has contributed their first piece today. It is about the defense of marriage bills and how complicated the issue really is. It isn’t getting a lot of views as of this point, but I am hoping that changes. It is a local, state, and national issue that effects many.
  • Community member Amra1 asks us all to consider If there is something wrong with being Muslim in the US. Amra1 is another person whose pieces are always well thought out and make me think. Be sure to check it out.
  • Roxannehas hit her stride today as well, digging up some information about Governor Palin and a skate park. If you believe in kids being taught the right things, you might want to read the piece and learn how Gov. Palin tried to stop a group of youth from making a difference.
  • Lest we forget Mr. MarcusCato, he has a great piece as well. He was the first on allvoices to report that Sen. Obama appears to have gone over 306 electoral votes.
  • Want to read up on abortion rights? Community member allenels joins the conversation with their piece: A letter to pro-life supporters. Check it out. First published on salon.com, this piece is very powerful.

And that only touches on today’s stories. Be sure to check them all out. Find your favorite (one of these or another) and let us know why you like it. We want to hear from you!

Punditty Gets a Shirt – Who will get the next one?

First things first: Yesterday’s poll response was a little underwhelming. But by a 3 to 2 margin, the preferred article from yesterday was: Did McCain have a ‘Dukakis Moment’ on stage after 3rd debate? That means that when the shirts are ready, Puditty will be getting one in the mail.

The next order of business: Today’s poll.

You may notice that today’s poll is at the top of the post instead of the bottom. I am hoping this gets more of you to VOTE instead of emailing me. The list of articles is above, details and links for each of them are here:

Today’s Twitter rage – what John McCain Knows

Sioux Falls :: SD :: USA | Oct 17, 2:56 PM

Twitter can be useful as a business tool, but I think it has been far more useful this election year as a political toy. With its own election page, and hungry political junkies on all sides of the political spectrum getting hopped up for their candidates…

Obama’s Tax Plan vs. the Middle Class (who is being truthful)

San Francisco :: CA :: USA | Oct 17, 3:00 PM

Finally I have my hands on Obama’s Tax Plan. He is not being truthful on how the Middle Class will be impacted by his new plan. If we are to compare his plan to McCain’s over 3 different scenarios then you can see the true impact to the Middle Class….

It’s Monday… What’s the news in your corner of the world?

Happy Monday! (Now that’s two words you don’t see together very often!) My Monday is being spent at the allvoices offices in San Francisco. It makes me wonder how all of you are spending your Monday’s? Are you planning an exciting week? Do you have lots of news to report? Are you looking forward to the rest of the year or dreading it?

I have two important things to report from the incentive program:

  1. allvoices member Tangerine has gone over 200,000 page views. Tangerine was our first member to earn a check from the incentive plan. He is now the first person to get TWO checks as well. (OK  He will be the first person to get two checks. It is in process right now.)
  2. allvoices member OnlineBusinessWoman is about to go over 100,000 page views. Once she gets there, the process for her check will be be started as well.

It makes me wonder… How are your page views coming? Do you want more hints on how to get more views? The best way to get views is to write interesting stuff, write good stuff, and be sure that you add images and media to your news. The more you can do to get people interested in your news, the more they will want to share it with the rest of the world.

For the Flip giveaways, we have a couple of people close to the number of referals for a Flip. I would have like to to have given these away much faster, but we are getting there!

Our next big push will be news about the US elections. What are the elections that matter to you? I know that the presidential elections matter to much of the world, but I am wondering what local issues matter to you as well. What initiatives and local offices grab your heart? What do you think are the big issues in next month’s elections?

If you aren’t in the US, what issues that we are voting on here matter to you? Do the bailouts affect out how you see the US? Do you think either of the candidates will change how you view the US? What local political events in your area will change the world?

As the election season runs down, our next big push will be the end of year holidays. What are the gifts you want to get and give? Know of a product that you think everyone will want? Let the world know what it is and why they should care. What do you think will be the toy of the season for kids and for big kids? Will the world economy affect how you spend the rest of the year? Tell us!

All in all, I am a happy camper this Monday morning. I am hoping that things are looking up in your corner of the world and that the rest of the year will be full of interesting news that you can share on allvoices.
